FC Luzern 1 – St Gallen 4

Due to a bizarre planning error by the Swiss league office the 2010 Swiss cup final is scheduled to take place on Mothers Day.

‘We contacted the Swiss FA as soon as we found out about this conflict, I even offered them to put natural grass in the new stadium if they rescheduled the final, but those ****** refused’ said the dejected FCL chairman, ‘we simply had no choice’.

Minutes after the final whistle coach Rolf Fringer had already his thoughts elsewhere ‘last year I made a chocolate cake, maybe I’ll try that one again, though it wasn’t a complete success as the wife said that I should have put more sugar in it’.

Hakan Yakin, who possibly has the busiest mothers day schedule in Central Switzerland was relieved. ‘I would never have been forgiven had I scored that penalty – how could I possibly have time to play a game that day?’

The St Gallen coach Uli Forte was understandably both disappointed in the result and also nervous what it could possibly mean to his marriage. ‘a couple of my players overheard some Luzern lads talking about the musical greeting cards they had bought for their mothers. As soon as we had understood the situation we did our best to lose, even conceding a couple of penalties but it didn’t work. Now we just have to focus on going out in the next round’.
